Another tragedy in Sagamu as teenager stabs boyfriend to death over N3,000

A teenager, Abosede Idowu, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for stabbing her boyfriend, Aliyu Ibrahim, to death.

The suspect allegedly stabbed Ibrahim in the chest, causing his demise, during an altercation over N3,000 in Sagamu.

In a statement, state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed that Idowu had spent the night in her boyfriend’s home.

But the following morning, she took N3,000 from his pocket without informing him.

Ibrahim was said to have confronted her after discovering his money was missing.

Idowu allegedly told him she could not return the full amount, leading to an altercation.

The police spokesman said that the duo was seen dragging a knife in public before the stabbing.

“The suspect was arrested following a distress call received from the Seriki Hausa in Sagamu that the suspect and her deceased boyfriend were arguing over the sum of N3,000 as a result of which they were struggling with each other with a knife and eventually, the girl used the knife to stab her boyfriend in his chest, which resulted in his death.

“On receiving the distress call, the DPO Sagamu, SP Okiki Agunbiade, detailed his detectives to the scene, where the suspect was apprehended.

“The bloodstained knife, which she used to stab the deceased, was also recovered,” Oyeyemi stated.

According to him, the suspect claimed that the deceased brought out the knife and while she was struggling with him, the knife stabbed him in his chest.

Oyeyemi disclosed that the remains of the deceased have been released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

He further disclosed that Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the immediate transfer of Idowu to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
