In Sapele, Arewa leaders handover Boko Haram suspect to Army

Officers of the 19 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have apprehended a suspected member of the Boko Haram sect in Sapele, Delta State.

Bukar Abacha, the suspected Boko Haram member was rounded up upon arrival at the popular Hausa quarters in Sapele.

A senior army officer who wished to remain anonymous said information which led to the apprehension of the Borno state born suspect was provided by a member of the Arewa community to “Operation Pulo Shield” on Thursday, he continued that the suspect was thereafter handed over to the Army headquarters in Abuja for further interrogation.

The officer said Bukar Abacha has been in the army wanted list, further stating that ‘show of force confidence building patrol’ aimed at sensitisation had been inaugurated. Explaining the sensitisation exercise, he said “The exercise is aimed at disarming all acts of criminalities such as, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism, illegal oil bunkering and killing of innocent citizens in the area.”

The officer urged the people to give the Army necessary intelligent information such as reporting strange activities, people of questionable characters, strange movements and others alike that would assist to effectively stamp out crime in the society.
