Saraki Must Go - Oshiomole Insists

Embattled National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomole has said the party cannot continue to accept the Senate leadership of Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Oshiomole made this call during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday where he also said that the APC was prone to intrigues and controversies because of its large size.

Perhaps as an attempt to get back on the good side of some party supporters given his recent travails, Comrade Oshiomole insisted that Senate President Bukola’s Saraki’s continued stay in office is unacceptable to the party.

According to the APC national chairman, it would be strange if the ruling party is experiencing what he called a “graveyard peace,” against the backdrop of recent happening within the party.

Reacting to the fiasco that followed the aftermath of the national primaries of the Party, Oshiomole said that while aggrieved members were allowed to voice their grievances, there were party machineries in place to smoothen things internally.

“We have finished our primaries and we have submitted names to INEC and there are internal procedures for reconciliation and we are working on them.

We are a large governing party and it will only be strange if we are having graveyard peace. People are allowed to grumble and grumbling is allowed. We should move on and find solutions.” He said.

He was thereafter asked about his plans to remove the Senate President and Oshiomole said;

“I think it’s about morality; we just had an election in the US. The democrats won more members in the congress. Without much ado, the leadership of the House changed. This question didn’t have to arise. Saraki belongs to a minority party; as it stands, today, in the senate.

The truth about democracy is that it’s a game of numbers. It’s unacceptable that minority provides leadership over majority.”

Oshiomole had been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) where he was questioned for nine hours last week.

According to reports, the arrest had been in connection with allegations made by certain governors within the ruling party that he received bribes during the party’s primary elections across the country.
