Senate President, Ahmad Lawan mourns Senator Rose Oko

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has mourned Senator Rose Oko, the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment.

The Herald reported that Senator Oko, who represented Cross River North Senatorial District at the Senate, died on Monday at a medical facility in the United Kingdom where she was receiving treatment.

Lawan in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media), Ola Awoniyi, commiserated with the late senator’s family and her loved ones.

The Senate President also condoled with the people and government of Cross River State over this loss. He said Senator Oko’s death was a great loss to the Senate and also to Nigerian women in politics.

In a related development, president of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, commiserated with victims of the explosion that occurred on Sunday morning at Abule Ado, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Lawan in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Ola Awoniyi, on Sunday condoled with all those who lost loved ones in the incident.

He also sympathised with those who were injured and those who lost property to the inferno.

The Senate President commiserated with the Lagos State Government over the tragic incident and prayed to God to comfort all those who were affected.

Lawan called on the relevant authorities and agencies to get to the root of the incident with a view to forestalling a recurrence.
