Nigerian singer Seyi Vibez has shared a cautionary tale from his early career, revealing how he was defrauded while attempting to join Wizkid’s record label, Starboy Entertainment.

Vibez, known for his hit song “Cana,” recounted the incident during a recent interview with Wazobia FM Lagos. He explained that at the young age of 13, eager to join Starboy, he searched online for information. “I went on Google and typed ‘How to register to Starboy record label,'” Vibez said. “I saw a number and called it.”

Unfortunately, the number connected him with a scammer. “The guy who picked up said I had to pay N10,000 for a registration form,” Vibez explained. “I believed him and even sold my phone to pay the fee.” However, after the payment, the scammer blocked Vibez’s number, leaving the young singer without his phone or any chance of joining Starboy.

Vibez used this experience to offer advice to aspiring artists. “Don’t sign up for any record label online,” he stressed.
