Stop Parading With Impersonator, NANS Warns Iyaloja Folashade Ojo

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has warned the Iyaloja General, Mrs Folasade Ojo to stop parading with impersonator, The Herald report.

In a release issued on Monday and signed by the Senate President of NANS, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde, said the person elected as NANS President at its just concluded Convention is Comrade Lucky Emonefe, while Comrade Babatunde Afeez, was elected Senate President, among other executive members.

Added that Lucky Emonefe and Comrade Babatunde Afeez were duly elected as NANS President and NANS Senate President respectively, among other elected executive by the Congress of Nigerian students, at the convention of NANS, which was held at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja.

The Herald understands that reports recently surfaced that the Iyaloja Folasade Ojo has been parading somebody who was not elected by NANS as the its President.

Reacting via a statement, NANS said it considers this move as an affront to the collective decision of Nigerian students in choosing its leaders.

The students body said it is disappointed that the Iyaloja General, who is also the daughter of the President, would stoop so low as to be caught in the web of trying to use her personality to legitimise somebody who is not elected by the students as its leader

“We are highly disappointed that the Iyaloja could stoop this low to allow herself be caught in the web of mess of attempting to use her personality to legitimise an illegitimate act.

“We refrained from taking the usual route and action traditionally established to send caution and warning signal against personalities caught in such aberration of encouraging factions and self declaration in NANS, which includes, but not limited to mobilisation of students for protest at any public function organised by such person.

“Just for the sake of our love and respect for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), a passionate father and lover of Nigeria students and education development, we have decided to make this public statement to send open words of caution, as well as alert relevant agencies of government including the first family to call Iyaloja Folashade Ojo to order and stop her from involving herself in students affairs.

“Mrs Ojo should be reminded that NANS is a body of students in Nigeria and not that of market association.

“We believe she has no idea of how NANS operates nor our mode of operandi. She is not familiar with the struggle of NANS, its power play and election processes, hence she lacked jurisdiction by all standard to involve herself in what she knows nothing about.

“We hereby openly advise her to stay clear of the person impersonating as NANS President.

“She is advised to link up with security agencies to have detailed report on the just concluded NANS Convention to enable her understand the legitimate National President-Elect being Comrade Lucky Emonefe and Comrade Babatunde Afeez being Senate President-Elect among other Executive of NANS duly elected.

“An individual who declares himself inside Agura Hotel is never NANS President, rather he is an impersonator and should be treated accordingly”, the statement added.
