Supreme Court Upholds Death Sentence For “Horror Film” Pastor, Reverend King

The highest court of the land, the Supreme Courrt of Nigeria has upheld the decision of the lower courts for the meting out of capital punishment to Reverend King whose grevious crimes against members of his congregation were likened to a “horror film” by the court.

Justice Ngwuta in reading out the verdict said “the ‎facts of the case could have been lifted from horror film”, resolved all the 12 issues Ezeugo raised in his appeal.”

“This appeal has no merit. The judgement of the court of appeal is hereby affirmed. The prison sentence that was earlier handed to the appellant is no longer relevant in view of the death sentence passed on him”, Justice Ngwuta held.

Reverend King was convicted and sentenced to death on January 11 2011 for the murder of Ann Uzoh and the attempted murder of 6 other parishioners who he was accused of pouring petrol on.
