Tell IGP to bring SARS to fight Boko Haram, ISWAP in Borno – Zulum urges Aregbesola

The Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has reportedly appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to redeploy personnel of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) to the state.

Zulum was said to have demanded the redeployment of the ex-SARS operatives to the state so they could help in combating the menace of Boko Haram and the Islamic State for West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The Herald learnt that the governor made the appeal through the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, when they met in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Aregbesola visited the state for the first leg of an Inter-Ministerial Stakeholders Engagement on Internal Security & Conflict Resolution in Nigeria Tour.

A security expert, Deji Adesogan tweeted, “Governor Zulum asks IGP to deploy abled @PoliceNG SARs to fight BokoHaram & ISWAP in Borno State. He made the call in Maiduguri today, Tuesday, when he received minister of interior. #StopPoliceBrutalityinNigeria #SARMUSTEND”

The minister shared the photos of his encounter with the governor on Twitter.
