The Level of Corruption in Goodluck’s Administration Can’t Be Compared To His Predecessors’ – Oyegun

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun has argued that the level of profligacy and corruption witnessed during former President Jonathan’s administration was monumental compared to those before him hence the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to probe him.

He stated this in Abuja while fielding questions from journalists during a press briefing at the party’s national secretariat.

He said Buhari knew that he has four years to address the challenges brought about by the high level of corruption and impunity in the six years of the last administration, during which some people were not even afraid of stealing public funds.

On the successes recorded by Buhari’s administration in the last two months, Oyegun said the government has met enormous challenges, noting however that the security situation has improved as terrorists no longer occupy any part of Nigerian territory.

He regretted that many people have lost their lives in the last few weeks due to the terrorists’ tactics of attacking soft targets like markets.

Oyegun said the APC had no hand in the case of the Senate president’s wife, Toyin Saraki, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Speaking on the promises the APC and the president made to Nigerians, Oyegun said they have informed Nigerians about the rot they met which, he added, was beyond the damage expected by the party before it was voted into power.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to the resolution of the Senate impasse while expressing his happiness that the House of Representatives has resolved its crisis.

He also dismissed the allegations that the president’s last minute intervention in the imbroglio was interference because of his earlier stand on the issue.
