Tinubu Departs African Union Summit In Ethiopia For Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) took place.

Tinubu is expected back in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, later today.

As the President and Chair of the West Africa bloc, ECOWAS, Tinubu actively participated in the 44th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, engaged in bilateral meetings, and attended various events on the sidelines of the AU summit.

During his visit to Ethiopia on Thursday night, President Tinubu collaborated with other African leaders in high-level meetings to discuss institutional reforms of the African Union, peace and security, thematic issues like climate change, and the modalities of AU’s participation and priorities in the G20.

This year’s AU summit theme was “Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.”

Ministers and other high-ranking government officials accompanied the president during the trip.
