Tinubu meets service chiefs, warns security agencies against working at cross purposes

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held a meeting with the service chiefs, the first since he assumed office on Monday, May 29.

It was learnt that during the meeting, the president demanded the security agencies worked harmoniously and not at cross purposes.

The president was also said to have disclosed his own philosophy towards dealing with security issues, which is adoption of contemporary measures to tackle the country’s security challenges.

Addressing State House correspondents after the meeting, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, conveyed the president’s message, saying President Tinubu promised holistic reforms while demanding frequent consultations in tandem with the demands of the nation.

Mongonu added that the president mandated the security agencies to develop a blue print to deal with the issue of crude oil theft.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao; and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.

Also in attendance are the Director-General of the Department of State Service(DSS), Yusuf Bichi, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.
