Tinubu v Oyegun: Doubts Linger Even After Alleged Reconciliation

The reported feud between former Governor of Lagos state and APC chieftain Bola Tinubu and APC leader John Oyegun might still be raging on even after the two men were said to have reconciled.

The two fell out after the Ondo primaries when they supported different candidates which had led to Tinubu calling for his resignation.

This had raged on for a while until President Buhari’s book launch in which the two men met and shook hands.

It seems that the feud is still ongoing though as the Vanguard reports that both men then went on to avoid each other for the rest of the day.

When asked about Tinubu’s comments and the supposed rift between them, Oyegun said; “There is no rift with Asiwaju. We have a difference of opinion, difference of perception and I think that is normal. Yes, I agree that the nature of the statement was a bit harsh.

“The methods of getting rid of a national chairman, if that is what I will call it, are spelt out in the constitution. They don’t take place on the pages of newspapers. It is proper for them to meet and they will all meet at the appropriate time.”

On the handshake between the two men, Oyegun said; “Do they know how far back our association goes? Do they know that we were in the trenches together in the NADECO days? Why can’t people who have mutual respect for each other have different opinions?

“All we had was a difference of opinion. Yes, it was expressed a bit harshly, but that doesn’t remove the basic fact that we have worked together for a very long time.”
