Senator for Lagos Central, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has withdrawn from the race to return to the Senate in 2023.

Tinubu, who is serving her third term in the upper chamber, is the wife of 2023 presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Independent reported that the senator has opted to nominate Wasiu Eshilokun-Sanni, the Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly as her replacement.

The move, it was reported, was made after the leadership of the senatorial district asked her to nominate her replacement.

Senator Tinubu was first elected into the Senate in 2011.

She was one of over 100 senators elected in the 8th Assembly in 2015. Six of these were women. The others were Stella Oduah and Uche Ekwunife, who both represent Anambra, Fatimat Raji Rasaki, Rose Okoji Oko and Binta Garba.
