The traditional ruler of Ikuru town in Andoni LGA of Rivers State, His Royal Majesty Aaron Ikuru, has been abducted.
It was gathered that the assailants abducted the monarch in his palace at 8:30 pm on Sunday before whisking him away to an undisclosed location.
The palace spokesman, Maurice Ikuru said, “Yes, it is true, it happened about 8.30pm on Sunday.”
The kidnappers have yet to contact the family of the victim, a source within the palace told newsmen.
The palace source appealed to security agencies in the state to ensure the monarch’s release.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command confirmed Ikuru’s abduction.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni disclosed on Monday that the command was intensifying efforts to rescue the monarch and arrest his abductors.
