Some yet to be identified persons have allegedly raped a young girl to death in the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area in Enugu.
The teenager’s remains were discovered in a bush just after the Community Secondary School in Imufu.
Her father, Jonathan Eze- Eze and family members had cried out and begun to look everywhere for her, many hours before her lifeless body was found.
According to Jonathan, he personally took her to her JAMB class in the Township School in Enugu Ezike on his bike, on Tuesday morning. But when he went to pick her up in the evening, he was told that another individual had assisted in transporting her back home.
The devastated Jonathan explained, “I left Township School, Ogrute and went home straight, hoping to see her but she wasn’t there. We waited till 8 pm and started looking for her.
“She was not the type that normally socializes. We did not sleep as her telephone number was switched off. It was only this morning (Wednesday) that we got information that her corpse was found here.
“She was to enter the university last year when she completed her secondary education but we prevailed on her to exercise patience for her elder brother to graduate because we cannot afford to train two persons in the university. Since then, she has been working hard to gain admission this year, but this is what has now happened.”
In his reaction to the incidence, a Rev. Father at the scene cursed out that whoever must have carried out the act would reap what they had sown.
He lamented, “The perpetrators of this heinous crime will be exposed. God will not allow His creation to be humiliated this way, without punishing them adequately,”
Some police detectives later arrived at the scene and took the lady’s body away for proper investigations.
While speaking with newsmen, one of the policemen stated that shreds of the victim’s clothes were discovered at the scene, her book, pens, and handkerchief were also seen in different areas surrounding the position of her body.
The detective further confirmed that there were signs of cuts around her wrists and neck, indicating that her rapists strangled her to death.
