The Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, has ordered the immediate dissolution of boards of all government parastatals and agencies in the state.

He gave the order barely 48 hours after his inauguration.

The sacked chairmen and members of boards were appointed by Emeka Ihedioha, who was himself sacked from the seat of the governor by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Uzodinma’s newly-appointed Chief Press Secretary, Chief Press Secretary Oguwuike Nwachukwu, confirmed the development.

The sacked persons were directed to hand over government properties in their possession to the most senior civil servants in the various affected MDAs on or before the close of work on Friday.

The Herald earlier reported that the governor suspended all contracts awarded by his predecessor, citing fraudulent activities of some government functionaries.

“Particular note has been taken of some parastatals where the contract letters and agreements are being backdated.

“Therefore Governor Hope Uzodinma has directed the suspension of all award of contracts in the state public service except with due authorisation from the office of the governor,” a statement signed by T.U.C Okonkwo, Principal Secretary to the governor, read.
