The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams says former President Olusegun Obasanjo is never at peace with any of his successors that he cannot control.

The Leader of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) spoke while reacting to Obasanjo’s claim that he had no quarrel with him (Adams) to demand reconciliation.

Recall that the duo met in the Lagos home of Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, on December 2.

The same day, Obasanjo put out a statement debunking reports of a reconciliation between him and Adams.

Reiterating that he had no axe to grind with the Yoruba generalissimo, the former president noted that he only took exception to Adams’ character.

The former president added that if he must reconcile with anoybody over any issue, it would have to be at his Abeokuta residence only.

Reacting, Adams said, “I will never go to his house. Assuming he did not talk about my character, I could consider going to meet him.

“Someone you do not like his character, you will not welcome that person to your house anymore. He has already said that he doesn’t like my character, so why should I go to his house.

“Though his press secretary called me the next day, trying to defend that statement and I told him that such a statement would not help the unity of Yoruba land.

“He asked me when I was coming to visit Baba (Obasanjo), and I told him to forget about it. I will never visit him for reconciliation and if I go, my guardian angel will be annoyed with me. So, forget about that.”

Adams noted that Obasanjo was not a progressives person.

Asked why he said so, the OPC leader said, “You ask yourself which progressive organisation he (Obasanjo) belongs to.

“From his antecedent, tell me any credible organisation he has belongs to. He has never been a member of any progressive organisation.”

Responding to the observation that Obasanjo’s love of Nigeria has never been in doubt, Gani Adams said, “He is just looking for political space. When Obasanjo is not allowed to have any influence in any government, he will be opposed to that government. That is his mission. If he cannot control the president, he will be the enemy of that president.”

Obasanjo has been at loggerheads with the Buhari administration for years.
