Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Thursday stormed the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting of the party was going on.

The governor also made an appearance at the BoT meeting, despite not being a member. Governors are not appointed into the party’s BoT.

It was not immediately clear if Wike, who has been identified as a major financier of the party, was at the meeting by invitation.

PDP BoT Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin chaired the meeting.

However, this newspaper can report that the BoT meeting was attended by other founding members of the party including former Senate Presidents, David Mark, Adolphus Wagbara and Bukola Saraki.

Also present was Senator Abdul Ningi.

There has been wrangling in the party of late over the second term ambition of National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus.

Wike is believed to be against Secondus’ return.

It was learnt that the recent high-profile defections from PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has further fuelled wrangling in the main opposition party.
