The governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye, has said that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is suffering from post-election trauma.

He said this on Wednesday as a guest on an Arise TV programme.

Recall that the duo has engaged in a war of words since Melaye indicated interest in the PDP gubernatorial ticket in Kogi.

Speaking in Port Harcourt on April 11, Wike said that Melaye lacked the qualities required to be governor.

The remark elicited a strong reaction from Melaye, who claimed that Wike was pained that he was not picked as vice-presidential flagbearer of PDP for the February 25 presidential election.

He alleged that the Rivers governor called him 19 times within two hours to ask him to convince the presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to pick him (Wike) as his running mate.

The former lawmaker said Wike became embittered after the ticket went to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.

He won the Kogi PDP gubernatorial ticket on Monday, April 17 and will square against the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ahmed Usman-Ododo, and others in the November 11 election.

During his Arise TV appearance on Wednesday, Melaye said, “Wike is one who is about to be taken off the shelf so I will not bother myself discussing with a man who is about leaving the office and is suffering from post-election trauma.

“I want to concentrate seriously on my election and how to rescue the people of Kogi State.

“I do not have time actually for a drug and alcoholic-induced individual”.
