Yahoo Locks Out Ad Blocker Users On Its Email Service

1 Min Read

Many Yahoo mail users using ad blockers were earlier in the week prevented from accessing their email.

The affected users, many of whom were threatening to abandon Yahoo for another email service provider, said they were on Thursday prompted to disable the ad blockers they used before they could access their email accounts.

However, according to tech blog Mashable, a Yahoo statement said the company was test-running “new product experiences” directed at a portion of small Yahoo users in the US.

Mashable says Yahoo’s decision to thwart ad blockers may not be unconnected with the company’s unfavourable financial results, especially caused by dwindling advertising revenue.
