The Sahel Aluminium Company Ltd. , Potiskum, and Yobe Flour and Feeds Mills Ltd., revived by the Yobe State Government have started commercial production.

The Managing Director of the Aluminium company, Alhaji Muhammed Muhammed, told newsmen in Potiskum on Tuesday that Gov. MaiMala Buni had approved N94 million for the resuscitation of the company.
“The Yobe governor, MaiMala Buni, has approved the sum of N94 million for the resuscitation of this company.
“So, on Feb. 14, 2020, we were able to receive our pending 40 tonnes of raw materials.
“Likewise, our first production machine which is the ‘Steptile Machine’ is already here.
“We are waiting for the second machine which is the ‘Netcopo Machine’ which we expect to arrive immediately after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Before the resuscitation, the production capacity was mainly 400 to 500 metres a day but after the resuscitation we are able to produce 15,000 metres a day,” he said.
Muhammed appreciated Gov. Buni’s support and policies which encourage contractors to patronise the products.
“The patronage level is excellent because of the directives by Gov. Buni to all contractors to patronise the company’s products, which is one of the reasons the company has been doing very well.’’
He, however, noted that the major challenge for the company was lack of enough delivery vehicles to meet the demands of customers.
“The major challenge so far is lack of delivery vehicles, though the governor has assured us of approving the request of overhauling the old ones and procurement of new ones,” he said.
On his part, Alhaji Ismail Musa, the Managing Director of Yobe Flour and Feeds Mills Ltd., disclosed that the governor had approved N80 million for the resuscitation of the company.
“We are expecting to start producing 50 tonnes capacity per day,’’ Musa said.
