Facts have emerged regarding how Honourable Fateema Mohammed, the Ifako-Ijaiye House of Representatives candidate in the 2023 elections, worked against her party during the elections.

Mohammed, a serial contestant under the PDP, lost her election to the eventual winner, Benjamin Olabinjo of the APC.

The House of Representatives election was held on February 25, along with that of the Presidential election.

However, following her loss in the election, she decided to work for the APC, along with Alimi Abdulateef, the Ward E chairman of the party, for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections, despite her party having Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor) as the governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos State.

Following her official defection to the APC in Ifako-Ijaiye, things went sour with Alimi, her DG for years.

The fallout led to both of them revealing how they sabotaged the PDP and worked for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s reelection and that of Hon Adewale Temitope Adedeji, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ifako-Ijaiye 01.

Some of the screenshots shared by Fateema Mohammed on a WhatsApp group in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government also revealed how she paid Alimi and other PDP party agents to deliver their polling units for the APC.

The chats revealed payments to PDP party agents who agreed to work for the APC at the polls.

In the chat seen by our reporter, some agents received as much as N100,000 to sabotage the PDP during the election.

However, an APC chieftain in Ifako-Ijaiye, who spoke under the condition of anonymity to The Herald, said Fateema Mohammed is better off in the PDP, as she is only a spectator in the APC.

“Having Fateema in the APC is a good move for the party, as we need to have everyone on board. However, you know in politics, loyalty is 100 percent. It will be difficult for the leaders to trust her, especially given her background. She’s coming to vie for the ticket, but there’s no vacancy in our party. Hon. Olabinjo has just taken the reins, and he is a strong politician. Hon. Adewale is also one of our shining lights, loved by the people for his achievements. So, who will she unseat? At the end of the day, they will show her that she is an outsider,” the highly-placed source said.

A check by our reporter on Hon. Fateema Mohammed’s website (https://www.fateemamohammed.org/) showed that she is yet to remove the PDP symbol and update the website to reveal her official defection to the APC
