Nigerian Stock Exchange Continues Bad Run

The Nigerian Stock Exchange continued its downward spiral today as the ASI dropped by 0.26% (71 points) compared with a 0.84% (232 points) loss recorded at the last trading yesterday. The local bourse ended the day at 27,314 points, while Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.3 Trillion.

A total of 2,669 deals were struck today, a reduction from 3,098 deals recorded yesterday, while the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 153,333,041 and the total value of transactions recorded today was N1.5 Billion.

UNILEVER the gainers chart today adding N1.84 to close at N39.9 followed by UACN and ETI which added N1.14 and N1 close at N26.95 and N15.68 respectively; GUINNESS and ZENITHBANK added N0.3 and N0.1 to close at N121.3 and N15.7 respectively.

The losers chart was led by NB who lost N2.03 to close with a share price of N117.97 followed by CONOIL and 7UP who lost N1.37 and N1 to close with share prices of N26.94 and N183 respectively; PZ and FLOURMILL lost N0.59 and N0.4 to close with share prices of N24.87 and N19.6 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were FBNH with shares valued at N226 Million, GUARANTY with shares valued at N410 Million, UBA with shares valued at N41 Million, FCMB with shares valued at N20 Million and ACCESS with shares valued at N42 Million.

Market breadth closed negative as UNILEVER led 16 Gainers against 23 Losers led by NB.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -21.19%.
