Former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Timi Alaibe has said that he joined the All Progressives Congress because there is poverty everywhere under the Peoples Democratic Party administration in Bayelsa and Bayelsans should never be asked to tolerate poverty.

Alaibe said “Change has come to Bayelsa State. This is common sense revolution. When you say change, it is not change for the sake of it. People say change is constant. But it is not for the sake of it. We are changing from poverty to prosperity. We are changing from deceit, intimidation and manipulations. We are saying ‘No’ to ‘Wayo’.

“A state as strong as Bayelsa, an oil producing state, cannot tolerate poverty. Poverty is not our portion. There is poverty everywhere in the state under this PDP administration. Are we cursed? How can we not benefit from the proceeds of the oil that is produced from our soil by way of good and quality schools and the rest. Under this administration, children are abroad and scholarship payments are not made. Is this why we voted the PDP? All these must stop because change has come. The gathering here today symbolises the politics of the state.”

The defected PDP Chairman, Col. Sam Inokoba also added that the PDP administration under the leadership of the Governor Seriake Dickson has allegedly abandoned good governance.

He said “The government of restoration under the PDP has now become the government of retrogression and stagnation, crippling the whole economy of our state. It is unacceptable and ridiculous to have dictatorship in a democratic dispersion. Instead of the dividend of democracy,we now have fruits of retrogression, deceit, lies, hatred, intimidation. Our action is to sustain the dreams of our founding fathers.”

Alaibe, Inokoba and over 1000 members of the PDP defected to APC on Saturday.
