Amotekun Fails to Protect Two Men From Abduction in Ondo

Two men were abducted in Ondo state on Saturday, one week after the Amotekun regional security network was launched in the state by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Both victims were abducted on the road to Oba Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.

The men were said to be returning from Ikun Akoko where they attended the Ikun Day celebration before they were abducted into the surrounding forest on their way back home.

According to local sources, Police and Amotekun patrol teams had swept the area before the abduction occurred. The family of the victims also told the police that they have not been contacted for any ransom demands.

The Public Relations Officer for the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident and said efforts were being made to recover the abducted men.

“Our men are already on the trail of the hoodlums and we shall ensure that the victims are rescued unhurt,” the police spokesperson stated.
