2023 presidency: APC rules out consensus, opts for indirect primaries in choosing flagbearer

1 Min Read

The 2023 presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be chosen through an indirect primary election rather than consensus.

The party reached this decision at the 11th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting holding at the Transcorp Hotel in Abuja. NEC is the party’s highest decision-making organ.

Recall that the national chairman and other principal National Working Committee (NWC) members were chosen through consensus at the party’s National Convention held in March.

Some party bigwigs vying for its presidential ticket are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi; Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi; and Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige.
