In a season of contract extension for Arsenal players, influential captain of the team Mikel Arteta gets one year contract extension on his deal, due to expire in June 2015.
He will continue playing for Arsenal until 2016, reports revealed.

Arsene Wenger understands the important position which Arteta holds at the club, especially, after he took over as captain of the team upon the departure of Thomas Vermaelen.

The Spaniard filled the void left by Cesc Fabregas after his exit from the club in August 2011.

Though, currently restrained from playing due to a recent a calf strain, Arsene Wenger and Gunners in general believes he’ll continue to impress following his come back.

An official club statement is due to be released later this week.
