Catheter bag: New photo raises questions about Tinubu’s health

A new photo of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in London has raised fresh questions about his health.

In the photo shared by Joe Igbokwe, an aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, on Thursday, Tinubu posed with his longtime ally, Chief Bisi Akande, and female APC chieftain, Hajia Naja’atu Muhammad.

However, a close-up view of the photo showed a conspicuous object hidden under the presidential candidate’s shirt.

Peoples Gazette reported that four doctors, including two surgeons, confirmed the object as having the outline of a catheter bag.

A catheter is a device that collects urine into a drainage bag through an attached tube.

According to a US-based online health resource Medline Plus, a catheter bag is used by persons suffering from urinary incontinence (leakage), urinary retention (not being able to urinate), surgery that made a catheter necessary, or another health problem.

The photo circulated the same day that Tinubu was conspicuously missing as presidential candidates signed the peace accord facilitated by the National Peace Committee (NPC).

During the signing, presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore had drawn attention to Tinubu’s absence, saying the APC candidate was running a presidential campaign in absentia.

He also confronted the APC vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima for representing his principal, Tinubu, at the signing where presidential candidates were expected to be present.

In February, Tinubu’s visit to the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona was the subject of controversy after videos showed his flowing garment soaked behind as he stood to address the monarch.

One of Tinubu’s security aides at the scene was also seen covering his nose as if to escape an offensive smell.

The incident drew suggestions that the former Lagos governor was suffering from urinary incontinence.
