Chadian intelligence has intercepted a large cache of different types of weapon set from ISIS affiliate in Libya suspected to be making its way to Boko Harm insurgents in the Lake chad region.
The seizure of the weapons goes further to establish the speculated ties and connections between the ISIS and the Boko Haram insurgents, also straightens speculations of increasing ties between the Boko Haram and the Islamic State, which now has a foothold, from its northern base of Sirte, south of Libya, next door to Chad.
The commander of the US special operations in Africa, Brig. Gen. Donald Bolduc, made the revelation while speaking with the US ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power in Ndjamena.
The General maintained that the Boko Haram-IS nexus may pose the greatest immediate threat to the Lake Chad region.
He continued that the groups clearly share “tactics, techniques, and procedures,” based on the conduct of their attacks.
