Chinese McDonald’s Issues Apology for Racism Against Africans

A McDonald’s based in the Chinese city of Guangzhou has issued an apology for racism against Africans.

The store had posted a sign on its business saying sub-Saharan Africans were no longer allowed into the premises.

The sign said “McDonald’s Guangzhou has been informed that from now on black people are not allowed to enter the restaurant”

The restaurant chain however entered into damage control mode when the sign attracted global outrage.

sub-Saharan Africans living in China have been complaining of racist attacks against them by Chinese authorities.

Many of them were ejected from their homes and turned out of hotels without notice or reason.

Many of them because homeless as Chinese businesses including restaurants, hotels and bars refused to serve Africans.

The Nigerian and Kenyan governments demanded an explanation for the attacks from the Chinese government. The latter however denied the attacks and said every foreigner in China was treated equally.

This latest episode however proved to big to cover or lie about as the sign got the attention of McDonald’s headquarters in the United States.

The McDonald’s chain promptly issued a statement saying the sign did not represent the inclusive value of the global restaurant business.

The Guangzhou branch was thereafter closed down while the sign was taken off.
