The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu has reportedly tendered his resignation.

Daily Trust reports that Adamu resigned on Sunday night.

Adamu was said to have resigned after a prolonged cold war with President Bola Tinubu.

A source quoted in the report stated that the party boss sent his resignation letter to the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The report quoted Adamu as saying he would not speak on his purported resignation until President Tinubu returns from Kenya, where he is attending the Fifth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting.

It was learnt that Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who doubles as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), advised the party boss to quit.

According to TheCable, Adamu and the National Secretary of APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore, were facing a vote of no confidence by National Working Committee (NWC) members on Monday afternoon following which they would be sacked by the National Executive Committee (NEC), chaired by Tinubu, on Wednesday.

Adamu’s relationship with the president was said to have broken down irrevocably following his failure to account for the N32 billion raised by the party from the sale of forms for the 2023 general election.

National Vice Chairman, North West, of the party, Salihu Lukman had accused Adamu of squandering the funds, breaching the constitution of the party and running a sole administratorship.
