The Federal High Court, Abuja, has adjourned the hearing of the case of embatlled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, which was slated for Thursday, February 8, 2024.

The adjournment of the hearing was disclosed by Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, in a post shared on his official X account on Wednesday.

In the post where he lamented the adjournment, Ejimakor noted that Kanu’s legal team is still not deterred, as they are ready regardless of the delays.

Ejimakor, who also decried the setback that they have faced in the case since nine years ago (2015), when they began the hearing, noted that they are waiting for the new hearing date that would be communicated by the court.

He further stated that the legal team of the IPOB Leader is always ready as they look forward to the end of the cases and their subsequent victory.

News About Nigeria recalls that Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja had in January fixed February 8, 2024, as the day for the hearing of Kanu’s case.

In his suit against the Federal Government, the IPOB Leader accused the FG of kidnapping him from Kenya and bringing him to Nigeria for trial.

In the suit, Kanu also prayed to the court to order his release from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

He also asked the court to order the Federal Government to pay him N50bn as damages.

Recall that, Kanu was forcibly repatriated from Kenya to Nigeria by the Federal Government in June 2021 after he fled following the invasion of his country home in Abia state by the Nigerian Army.

The IPOB Leader according to the fG was repatriated to continue his trial on the charges filed against him in 2015.
