Defection Galore: 1000 APC Members Defect to PDP in Lagos

As we draw closer to 2019, the political atmosphere is getting hotter with political activities from various parties in different parts of the country. The wave of defections which was kicked started by members of the legislature months ago has gathered crescendo as ordinary members of both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been criss-crossing on the other’s platform.

This time, it is the turn of about 1000 members of the APC belonging to Ajeromi Ifelodun Local government area of the party who have decamped to the PDP in Lagos state.

The latest army of defectors was received by the PDP member representing Ajeromi/ Ifelodun Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Rita Odichimma Orji who assured the decampees of full integration into the activities of the PDP while commending them for having the courage to leave APC.

According to the Honourable;

“The party has failed to deliver on its promises to Nigerians. It is clear, beyond any reasonable doubt that since the inception of the APC-led administration, the nation has continued to grapple with loads of socio-economic and political problems.

It is worrisome that today there is so much division in the country unlike before, while bloodletting and spates of killings of innocent Nigerians and other acts of violent crimes have become the order of the day, mainly due to the cluelessness and leadership failure of the APC-led federal government.”

While also receiving the decampees to the party, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Mrs. Maina charged them to remain loyal to the PDP and work in synergy with already existing members of the party to ensure victory in the 2019 election.

A former APC chieftain and leader of the decampees, Chief Tajudeen Balogun, said that they were forced to dump the APC over their inability to implement promises it made to bring the much talked about “change” to impact on the lives of Nigerians.
