The Speaker of the Delta assembly, Chief Monday Igbuya, has expressed its satisfaction with the performance of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Henry Ebireri, in Asaba on Tuesday, Igbuya commended the governor for ensuring prudent spending and investing the resources toward development.

“Delta State is moving in the right direction. Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa has performed well with the meagre resources available to the state,” Igbuya said.

He described Okowa as a benchmark for outstanding achievements in the country.

“Dr Ifeanyi Okowa is a dogged politician imbued with inspiring developmental and intellectual zeal.

“He remains the measurement for positive leadership, courage, good governance, accountability and performance in the country,” he said.

Igbuya, who praised Okowa for his high level of transparency and accountability, attributed the paucity of funds to the negative impact of oil pipeline bombing by the new militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers.

“In spite of the lean purse of the state and the dwindling national economy, Delta State is up to date in its obligations to workers.

“Gov. Okowa places priority attention on the welfare of the entire workforce in the state by ensuring regular payment to the civil servants,’’ Igbuya said.

While commending the governor for his administrative style, Igbuya said: “Delta State is one of the most performing states in this dispensation.”

The speaker thanked Okowa for providing purposeful leadership and promoting the interest of the people and called on the people to join hands with him to develop the state. (NAN)
