The various ethnic groups in the Niger Delta region are having a major challenge in choosing the representatives for a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari that has been scheduled for Tuesday.

President Muhammadu Buhari, in a bid to resolve the Niger Delta crisis that constantly affects the economy, agreed to have a meeting with the leaders to discuss the problems and find out lasting solutions to the crisis.

While the group was still indecisive on whom to represent the region, there is also disagreement on the agenda of the meeting and the type of leaders to use as representatives.

Some are of the opinion that leaders with good moral thought should represent them so as to apply wisdom in the negotiations, others argue that leaders of various armed groups and activists should take the lead.

It was also gathered that prominent Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, and King Alfred Spiff, the Amayanabo of Twon-Brass were all presented with different lists.

The leaders suggested that each of the states should be represented by five persons.

Also, some of the youths of the community have frowned against the suggestion to send only the leaders as representatives, stating the need for them to be there as some of the matters to be discussed focused on their well-being and development.

Despite the indecisions, some of the leaders have already met with officials of the Federal Government in preparation for the meeting.
