Father in law to a Governorship hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state, Matthew Iduoriyekenmwen was killed by unknown gunmen in Benin city on Thursday.
According to a report by Punch, Professor Christopher Ogiehor was murdered by Gunmen in his house within Egbor GRA area of Benin City.
According to several family members, the University Don was found in a pool of blood in his room on Thursday morning.
“He was found inside his bedroom dead with a broken head and his hands tied behind him, an indication that he may have been hit on his head and probably strangled.
“Men from the Forensic Department of the Nigeria Police were in the house this morning to commence an investigation. We cannot ascertain where the killing is coming from.”
The public relations officer for the Benin police command, Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the incident and said police officers in charge of homicide have been dispatched to the house of the deceased.
