Facebook Trains Senators On Social Media Usage

Social media giants Facebook is organising a training programme for Nigerian Senators and their staff on the effective use of technology for better government.

The training which is fixed for next week is expected to be conducted by Facebook Africa’s head of policy.

In a statement by Sen. Isa Galaudu, the chief of staff to Senate President Bukola Saraki, the training is geared towards helping the senators communicate effectively on issues of public policy and good governance.

“Senators and their aides receive training on use of facebook in line with the promise of the President of the Senate to ensure more representative legislature using e-parliamentary tools.

“This is a partnership between the Office of the Senate President and Facebook,” the statement read.

The statement confirmed that all 109 senators are expected to be in attendance.

The training is at no cost to the senators as Facebook has offered it for free.

The training team from Facebook is expected in the country on Sunday.
