Former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Chief Frank Nweke (jnr), has announced his intention to join the race for Enugu East senatorial seat.

Nweke made this announcement while addressing the people of the senatorial district who gathered at Ozalla in Nkanu West local government area of the state over the weekend.

He said “I heard, I observed, I watched developments in the political arena. I watched everything with keen interest; I heard the cries of my people, I saw the oppression of my people, I saw the persecution of my people.

“I saw dis-empowerment of my people; then I said does it mean we don’t have people in our land again? Why is it that we are afraid to talk, why can’t we walk along the road with our heads high?

“The senate I’m going to is not for myself, I’m going for the people of Enugu East senatorial zone; I’m going for our youths, for young women in our midst who have no job, I’m going there because of our fathers and our mothers who have no hospital to go to, I’m going there because of the widows, we are going there because of students. And we should not be afraid.”

He also said he is joining the senatorial race with experience and connections.
