Guardiola takes Swipe At ‘Long Ball’ Manchester United

It seems the claws are already out in the Pep/Mourinho rivalry as the Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola took a swipe at his neighbor insinuating that Mourinho’s side just played long balls.

The Manchester derby took place last week and City took the spoils with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring in that game. City played Bournemouth whom they beat rather easily 4-0.

In the post-match interview, Pep spoke to the press and he said; “Bournemouth were the best team we have played until now – they could create more problems when they had the ball than other teams, who played long balls,” the remark can be construed as a dig at Mourinho’s men with the pair clashing last week.

Pep continued, “They wanted to play and our high pressing in the first half was not perfect.

“We did well and could use a lot of counter-attacks and after that the quality of our play from the strikers and midfielders made the difference.”

He added: “I’m not going to accept that it is easy because we worked hard to play this well. Bournemouth are the best team we have played in our five matches, so I am very pleased.

“We will lose games and we will make mistakes, but this is a process.”
