The Federal Government has given the go-ahead for embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari to be extradited to the United States over his alleged involvement in the $1.1 million wire fraud orchestrated by Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi.

Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami disclosed FG’s approval in documents he filed before the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to support Kyari’s extradition, Vanguard reported.

In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/249/2022, and filed under the Extradition Act, Malami said the application followed a request by the Diplomatic Representative of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.

He said Kyari should be extradited to face trial in the U.S. because his case there was solid and not politically, religiously or racially motivated.

The Attorney-General further said he was also satisfied that Kyari has been accused of the offence for which his surrender is sought.

He noted that there was no criminal proceeding pending against Kyari in Nigeria for the same offence.

The Herald can report that the suspended former Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) boss is currently in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for an alleged involvement in a narcotics case.
