During an interview with Beat FM on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, the award-winning singer, celebrated as one of the biggest artists of 2023, emphasized a transformative shift in the Afrobeat landscape. Omah Lay confidently asserted that the familiar sound associated with Afrobeat is poised for a significant evolution in 2024 and the years to come.

The artist shared insights into his innovative approach, expressing that he is already introducing a fresh sound for Afrobeat, exemplified by his latest hit single, ‘Holy Ghost.’ Omah Lay went on to tantalize fans with the revelation that his upcoming album, scheduled for release this year, will be infused with this exciting new sound, promising a remarkable and novel vibe for listeners.

In his own words, Omah Lay declared, “I have started a new sound, I feel like Afrobeat is going to, the sound people identify as Afrobeat is going to change in 2024, 2025, in the future and I am going to be one of the leaders of the new sound. I have started a new sound of Afrobeat, and you’re going to hear more of that in 2024. ‘Holy Ghost’ is one of them, and I am putting out an album, and the album is going to consist of all of this new vibe.
