She acknowledged that the presence of children can significantly impact a woman’s decisions in a marriage, sometimes leading them to prioritize the family’s stability over personal dissatisfaction.

In her candid words, she shared, “A lot of women stay in unhealthy marriages for their children. For the longest, you hear so many women say things like, ‘The marriage is done but I only stay for my kids.’

Toke Makinwa, drawing from her personal experiences, disclosed that she, too, might have chosen a similar path if she had children while in her previous marriage. She revealed that having lost both her parents at the age of 8 and being adopted, she grappled with questions about what life could have been like in a different circumstance.

Considering her own longing for a complete family, Toke acknowledged that she might have made compromises for the well-being of her children, striving to give them a stable and nurturing environment with both parents present. She emphasized that she understands the difficult decisions women make and refrained from passing judgment on anyone facing similar predicaments.
