Muhammed Adamu, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has alleged that the real reason behind #EndSARS protest was to oust President Buhari from office.
IGP made the allegations during a meeting with the leaders of the South-South zone and representatives of the Presidency.
According to the Police Chief, investigations revealed that ejecting President Buhari from office, was the target of protesters who appeared unfazed even after the government yielded to their demands.
Adamu also faulted the circulation of fake news on social media for the uprising which led to the death of many persons and destruction of government infrastructure.
”The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, said fake news gave impetus to the nationwide EndSARS that culminated in the death of civilians, police personnel and their assets.
“Adamu alleged that intelligence has confirmed that the EndSARS protest was funded from within and outside the country,” said the statement issued by Governor Nyesom Wike’s media aide, Kelvin Ebiri.

“He further added that one of the primary objectives of the protest was to effect a regime change,” the statement said.
It would be noted that No gerians staged #EndSARS protests across different parts of the nation over unchecked police brutality and extra-judicial killings of innocent citizens.
