Vice President Namadi Sambo has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wil win and form the next government in Lagos State come 2015.

He declared that the people of the state had for years been yearning for a change from the burden of excessive taxation and squander, which was common knowledge.

“We are poised to, more than ever before, rescue Lagosians from the bandage and sufferings of giving something with the left hand and then, taking it away through the right hand. This cannot continue, the time for PDP to take over Lagos State has come.

“The PDP is confident that it will win Lagos State, its presidential and governorship elections and all other elections across board in Lagos State,’’ he said.

Sambo made this declaration in Lagos, at a reconciliation meeting he had with the PDP governorship candidate, Mr Jimi Agbaje and co- aspirants, including Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Tokunboh Kamson, Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi, Mr Deji Doherty, among others.

The last primary exercise held by the party to pick its governorship candidate had generated crisis, with Obanikoro, who cited alleged manipulation, approaching a Federal High Court to ask it to cancel the exercise and fix a date for holding another primary.

Sambo, who said President Goodluck Jonathan was particularly appreciative of efforts of PDP leaders in the state in keeping the party as one united family, also expressed great delight that all the co-aspirants had agreed to work as one with the party’s governorship candidate, Agbaje, to deliver Lagos.

“Agbaje is, indeed, humble and that is what appeals for total support for the party to win in Lagos. Our party has the total advantage of winning Lagos as the state has yearned for too long for a change,” the vice- president said, assuring that Agbaje, as the candidate in 2015, would not let the party down.

Sambo, while saying that what the party leadership had done in reconciling the membership was emulating, said the Federal Government and, indeed, the PDP had realistic and verifiable pictures of works it had carried out all over the country and would, therefore, continue to make more meaningful impact on Nigerians.

“Our pictures are real. I saw a poster of a candidate claiming that the Lekki Deep Sea Port is a Lagos State venture. I will like to say that the Federal Government has a large share in it.

“The Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) has also 20 per cent share holding while the private sector has the largest share. Our pictures are real and verifiable,” he said.

Speaking further, Sambo gave an assurance that Lagos would witness more realistic development with a PDP government, saying that, “Today people are leaving Lagos because of heavy taxation. A PDP government will correct it.”
