Kano sponsors 250 indigenes into army

Kano State Guidance and Counseling Board have revealed that it has facilitated the training of two hundred and fifty indigenes into the Nigerian Army in the period of nine months.

This was disclosed by the Board’s Director Administration and General Services, Hajiya Mariya Hodi Adamu while receiving award of honour from a youths development association called Matan Kwarai Youts Development Association in Fagge Local Government in the Kano metropolis on Tuesday.

According to her, about 210 of the Kano candidates that participated in the training within the staid period were successful in the 73rd, 74th and 75th batches, including six officers that passed out from the Direct Short Service, adding that the board has sponsored all the expenses required at the recruitment exercise for the Kano contingents.

We have sponsored the training of 250 indigenes of Kano State into the Nigerian Army. 210 of them have been successful; among them are 6 candidates that successfully passed out from the Direct Short Service. This is as a result of the commitment of the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje towards youth’s development in the state.

Let me also let you know that the Executive Secretary of the board, Musa Abba Dankawu, is up and doing to make sure that our indigenous youths are successful in the training, she said.

Adamu Added that plans are underway in the board to commence youths and women development programmes, stressing that the board does not stop on issuing indigene certificate only but also pay utmost attention to youth’s development as well as giving guiding them to establish a prosperous future.

She further disclosed that special skills acquisition programmes are being planned for women in the state, noting that empowerment programmes are also on top gear to assist women considering their status in society in the wake up the current economic turmoil in the country.

We are waiting for government’s approval to kick start the empowerment programme. We will try to assist women because we are taking into cognisance their status in the society, she added.
