Southhampton were able to earn themselves a point at the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night after they played a 0-0 draw with Chelsea.

The blues were far from their best as they could not find the back of the net against a Southhampton team that has had its own troubles in recent times.

Morata got the chance to start the match since Olivier Giroud had been ruled out due to injury. Although, the Spaniard barely got clear passes that could produce goals. With all the lackluster, Chelsea still lost William to injury.

The first half of the match only had some flashpoints as it was until the 33rd minute before the blues had a good opportunity. Hazard created space on the left side of the box before shooting towards goal. Although, his shot hit Angus Gunn, a newbie at Southampton, in the face.

Lackluster Chelsea Held at Home By Southampton

Willian was substituted some minutes later after he collided with Maya Yoshida.

At the point, Sarri would have wished that the new signing, Pulisic was available, as he would have fit perfectly into Willian’s role. However, he brought on Ruben Loftus-Cheek who looked optimistic.

Morata eventually found the net but his goal was immediately ruled as offside, much to the annoyance of fans.

In the 78th minute, Loftus-Cheek created a chance for Morata. But the Former Juventus forward was able to shoot directly at Gunn.

Chelsea continued to find a goal to secure three points. In the last minutes, Marcos Alonso worked his way into Southampton’s box only to fall easily under pressure from Shane Long. But the referee ignored his plea, helping the Saints to hold on till the very end.
