Lagos-Ibadan Crash: FRSC urges motorists to be extra careful

Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has warned motorists to be extra cautious on the Lagos-Ibadan Highway and obey all traffic rules and regulations at all times.

A  statement signed by Mr Bisi Kazeem, Head, Media Relations and Strategy, on Wednesday in Abuja said Oyeyemi made the plea while reacting to the multiple crashes on the route.

He said that the crash happened on the bridge before Kara Market by OPIC on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. on Wednesday.

According to him, the crashed  involved six vehicles, killing four  persons and causing a heavy gridlock.

He attributed the unfortunate incident to the negligence of the drivers and not the ongoing construction work on the expressway.

The Corps Marshal said it took the combined efforts of FRSC, LASTMA, LASEMA, Fire Service and NEMA about 15 hours to extinguish the inferno and remove obstructions and debris from the crash.

“I implore motorists to plan their journeys and exercise adequate caution while on the road.

“I thank the agencies that participated and other good Nigerians who assisted in the rescue exercise and removal of obstruction.

“I wish the injured quick recovery while sympathising with the families of the dead,” Oyeyemi said. (NAN)
