A man has been charged to court for compelling his wife to sleep with 2,742 men in four years while he pocketed the proceeds of the escort job.

According to prosecutors, the 54-year-old man, who could not be named for legal reasons, would sit outside their home in Meaux, Paris, France while his wife entertained visitors in the apartment.  Sometimes, prosecutors said, he would sit in the car with their 5-year-old son while his 46-year-old wife catered to the sexual needs of the barrage of men who were never in short supply.

He was said to have made about £5000 (app. N1.6 million) a month through this business.

“The husband exercised a psychological power over his wife, preventing her from stopping submitting herself to the sexual needs of customers who were sometimes very tough,” Emmanuel Dupic, prosecutor at the town’s criminal court was quoted as saying by Daily Mail.

The couple who have been married for 10 years were arrested last Tuesday by police, although only the man has been charged for pimping with a possibility of a ten-year sentence upon conviction.

Prostitution is legal in France but it is illegal to solicit for patronage, but the man stands accused of having used four internet sites and text messages to source for clients for his wife.

He has however been released on bail.
