Court remands fake lawyer in prison custody in Jos

A Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced one Bello Labaran, to 14 months imprisonment for stealing a sewing  machine valued at N50, 000.

The Chief Magistrate, Malam Nuraddeen Bello, did not give Labaran, 21,any  option of fine.

The convict who resides at Aduworuwa area of Sokoto, had pleaded guilty to a three-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, trespass and theft levelled against him.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Monday Kennedy, had told the court that the convict conspired with one Babangida Tuwo, now at large, and  broke into the house of one Mohammed Samaila of Bazza area, Sokoto and stole a sewing machine valued at N50, 000.

The prosecutor said that Samaila reported the case on Sept. 18, at Dadin Kowa Police Station, Sokoto.
He said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 97, 356 and 288 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
