Reports have indicated that the President will soon announce the appointment of a new Inspector General of Police in the person of Mr. Suleiman Abba when the current IG, Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar retires tomorrow.
The Police Council which comprises of the 36 state governors, and Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Mike Mbama Okiro (IGP, rtd) have all chosen Mr. Abba as their consensus candidate for the Police top job.
He is currently the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7.
Abubakar will retire tomorrow after spending the mandatory 35 years in service.
